Larry Joe Hood
Larry Joe Hood, 78, passed away in Forrest City on July 26th, 2024. He was born in Brinkley to the late David Riley Hood and Lula Bell Culver Hood on November 25th, 1945. Larry graduated from Brinkley High School in 1964. He served six years in the National Guard during which time he went through Basic Training at Fort Campbell before joining the Artillery Unit during Advanced Individual Training. Larry enjoyed the Artillery Division but was flipped to Infantry where he spent every weekend running the hills of Bear Creek in Marianna. After he left the National Guard, Larry was a fuel dealer for over 20 years at Weise Gas. He would end up retiring at the United States Postal Service as a Rural Route Carrier. Larry also enjoyed playing golf, especially with his late wife Judy, who he was married to for 56 years until her death in June of 2024. Those remaining to cherish Larry’s memory are grandson, Mark Hood; brother Danny Ray Hood; and a host of other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his spouse, Judy; parents, Riley and Lula Hood; along with one son, Kirk Hood; and six siblings, David Hood, Bill Hood, Darlene Booker, Betty Shaw, Judy Taylor, and Jimmy Lee. A graveside service was held at Upper Cemetery, Brinkley on Wednesday, July 31st at 1:00 pm.
