Robert Lee Butler April 14, 1944 – March 19, 2020
Robert Lee Butler of Dallas, Texas passed away at T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Dallas, Texas at the age of 75. He was born in Brinkley to the late Charlie J. Butler and Cathryn N. Butler.
Robert graduated from Marian Anderson High School in Brinkley in 1963. He went on to attend AM&N College in Pine Bluff (The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff). He went on to attend and graduated from Davenport University in Flint, Michigan with a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration.
“Bobby” as he was affectionately known, was united in matrimony to Betty Boyd in December 17, 1968 in Pine Bluff. He enlisted into the U.S. Army, where he served for four years, and received an honorable discharge. He was employed with General Motors Corporation in Flint, Michigan for more than 30 years, having retired in 2002.
Robert was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He loved the game of golf.
His parents; and two brothers, Larry Butler and Lawrence Wilbur Butler; preceded him in death. Survivors are his wife, Dr. Betty Butler, of Desoto, TX; daughters, Jeanette Atkins (Greg), of McDonald, GA, Rochelle Butler, of Desoto, TX, and Barbara Butler-Brown, of Desoto, TX; sons, Robert Butler, of Dallas, TX, and Emeka Butler (Sharonda), of Fort Worth, TX; siblings, Acy Butler, of Philippines, Lincoln Butler (Dorothy), of Desoto, TX, Brenda Morrison (Luther), of Dallas, TX, William Morris Butler (Erma), of Dallas, TX, Linda Pighee (Paul), of Cedar Hill, TX, Stanley Butler, of Dallas, TX, and Cathy Franklin (Benny), of Desoto, TX; 15 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A private family memorial services was November 21 at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Brinkley with Reverend Paul Piggee officiating. Arrangements were by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley.
